Hiring The GreenHouse
About the GreenHouse
The GreenHouse is the Federation's purpose-built Head Office and conference centre. We moved here in 1995, when the building was officially opened by botantist David Bellamy.
It is a single storey, all-timber building of Walter Segal design with a grass and wildflower roof. The roof improves the building's visual appeal and also provides a habitat for bees, butterflies, birds and other fauna.
We also have a demonstration growing area illustrating principles of sustainable gardening. The garden is used as a training venue for local volunteers to learn more about organic gardening and permaculture techniques, as well as an outdoor venue for meetings and relaxation by staff and visitors to The GreenHouse.
A leaflet about the building and the history of the site is available: please send us a C5 SAE if you would like a copy.
