Garden Worker, Culpeper Community Garden

21 hours per week, salary £24,068 pro rata (pay award pending).

Culpeper Community Garden is a unique, multi-award winning public open space run by and for the local community. The garden is seeking a garden worker to encourage and promote the practical use of the garden by individuals, local schools, community groups and the general public.

Closing date: Friday 30 July.

You will participate in and supervise the day-to-day maintenance of the garden and help to manage its longer-term evolution. Duties will include organising and managing work programmes for garden members, running workshop sessions for local community groups and helping to organise social, educational and fundraising events. You will also be expected to undertake a range of administrative tasks necessary for the day to day running of the garden and help manage projects.

The ideal candidate will have excellent interpersonal skills and a strong commitment to working as part of a team as well as practical knowledge of gardening with special reference to organic gardening. You should have experience of working in a community setting and the ability to work supportively with a wide range of people and groups. You will also need to demonstrate sound organisational and administrative ability along with initiative, self motivation, flexibility and the ability to work on your own.

The garden worker will report to the Management Committee at regular meetings and liaise regularly with the Chair, Treasurer and Secretary. The post is two days per week plus occasional evenings and weekends.
