Previous grant schemes - aims, objectives and achievements

Between 2002 and 2004, funding was provided by Esmée Fairbairn Foundation for practical allotment regneration through three different schemes. The huge volume of applications submitted to the scheme to date points to a trend of under-investment by local authorities and government in many allotment sites. It also demonstrates a need for allotment associations to take a more active role in seeking funding for site improvements. The applications received have been diverse: proposals have included nature gardens, toilets, disabled access plots, fencing, promotion and publicity, plot clearance, events, training, and orchards.
