Mentor Network

Mentor training day at Windmill Hill City Farm allotments in Bristol. The ARI Mentor Network consists of a team of volunteer experts trained to give advice and support to anyone involved in regnerating allotments in the UK. Our Mentors are people who have direct experience of managing and regnerating allotments at a local level. They have provided help with:

  • where to go for funding
  • how to set up an association
  • becoming self-managed
  • disability access
  • different ways to promote your plots
  • working with community groups
  • what to do about security concerns
  • setting up an allotment project.

Our mentor network has unfortunately been suspended in England and Wales due to a lack of funding. We are seeking additional funding to allow us to reinstate the service at the earliest opportunity.

However our successful bid to the Big Lottery Fund Scotland has allowed us to reinstate our mentor service in Scotland. Ian Welsh will be available again to assist plotholders and associations in Scotland from 16 June. His contact details are: Tel. 0845 223 5443 Ian.welsh23@btinternet.com

If you require assistance with an issue that our mentors might previously have been able to help you with,  a great deal of information is available on this website which may be of use to you - particularly in the resources section.

Alternatively, please feel free to contact the ARI staff team who will do their best to assist you.

N.B. ARI is not able to provide assistance with legal issues (e.g. site disposal threats), disputes between councils and plotholders, or internal disputes. Please contact NSALG if you require this type of assistance.
