Community Day support sought

Community groups are being encouraged to support Community Day – a public holiday dedicated to celebrating and promoting voluntary community activity. Community Day would fall during the autumn half term break in October, breaking the long run of 16 weeks without a holiday between August and Christmas.

The organisations involved in promoting Community Day say public holidays are a popular part of life in the UK and that they play a vital part in ensuring that a proper balance between working lives and the leisure time needed to pursue hobbies, exercise, learn and get involved in local community activities.
