Isle of Skye Networking Meeting
This networking event at Rubha Phoil Forest Garden on Saturday, 17 April 2010 (from 11am-3pm) is open to anyone interested or involved in Community and therapeutic Gardens. This event is free and lunch is available for £3. This will be a great opportunity to share ideas and information and look forward to the year ahead. Learn more about the work of the Federation of City Farms and Community Gardens, Allotments Regeneration Initiative and Trellis.

Two events with the Growing Communities in Scotland:
Linking in With National and Local Strategies and Policies
On Monday 29th March in Glasgow, with Jillian Flye (SCVO Policy and Parliamentary Information Officer), and Peter McColl (SCVO Policy Officer- Localism). The day will focus on:
- An outline of the workings of the Scottish Parliament and various ways you can get involved
- Policy at national level (how do policies come about; policy areas relevant to community and therapeutic farms and gardens)
- A look at local government, and how to tie in with local strategy
- How to influence policy (e.g. petitions, consultations, committees, single outcome agreements, community planning partnerships)
- How to link in with current policy directions (funding applications/ in the run up to elections)
- Keeping up with policy and developments
- What the FCFCG and Trellis do at policy level and how they can support you.

The Bottom Up Approach to Community Gardening
On Friday 9th April in Edinburgh. The Growing Communities in Scotland Partnership and City of Edinburgh Council invites anyone active in community-managed land issues to take part in a day of sites visits, networking and sharing good practice through case study tours of four successful Edinburgh projects. We will visit four diverse community gardens where groups have negotiated with landowners to manage land for communal purposes of health, food, biodiversity and education. This day is for anyone involved or interested in accessing land and establishing community led projects using a bottom up approach.

Trellis Membership Discount: FCFCG is offering a 25 percent discount scheme for groups who are members of our partner organisation Trellis. The discount works as follows:
1. If you are already a member of Trellis and wish to become a member of FCFCG, then you will receive a 25 percent discount on any annual membership fee charged by FCFCG. You can download a membership application by visiting www.farmgarden.org.uk/join
2. If you are already a member of Trellis and FCFCG you can apply for the discount when your membership of FCFCG is due for renewal.
Gardens Scheme: Community gardens in Scoland may be interested in Scotland’s Gardens Scheme (SGS), a registered charity created in 1931, which raises funds for other worthy charities by facilitating the opening of large and small gardens of horticultural interest throughout Scotland to the public. Food Campaign: NFU (National Farmers' Union) Scotland has a campaign called What's on your Plate? which aims to promote Scottishfood and farming and to raise consumer awareness of the importance of local food and farming.
