Foot and mouth - statement

All FCFCG member city farms and school farms will be following government (Defra) guidelines on bio-security, restricting the movement of livestock, and any special local measures that may be introduced. Full advice is available from www.defra.gov.uk/footandmouth

It should be stressed that there is NO danger to public health; this is confirmed by the Health protection Agency (HPA).

FCFCG supports the total suspension of all livestock movements to help prevent the spread of this disease. Members will aim to maintain good standards of animal welfare at all times, and act in accordance with any government imposed disease prevention instructions.

We urge all members of the public to help prevent the spread of this disease by following any instructions issued by city and school farms, including avoiding footwear that may have been in contact with farmland, and washing your hands before leaving the farm.
