Hackney City Farm to Freightliners Farm

A great route between these two busy and bustling city farms. The route avoids many of the busy roads in the area, creating a safer and less polluted cycle ride.

Directions (From Hackney):

  • Turn Left out of Hackney City Farm along Goldsmiths Row until you reach the canal
  • Turn Left onto Regent's Row and down the ramp onto the towpath. Head west past the lock
  • Continue under three road bridges, over a ramp and under two more road bridges until a rainbow pipe arched over the canal. Go up the steps here
  • Go Across the road onto Shepperton Road, by the Rosemary Branch pub
  • Turn Right onto Rotherfield Street continuing until Essex Road
  • Go Across onto Canonbury Street, then Willow Bridge Road
  • Turn Left onto Canonbury Place and head across the square
  • Head along Upper Street to Islington Park Street
  • Go Across Liverpool Road
  • Turn Right up Thornhill Road
  • Go Right then Left up Westbourne Road
  • Turn Right onto Sheringham Road. Freightliners is on the left.

Hackney City Farm, Hackney

General Information: Centred on a traditional cobbled farmyard (formerly a brewery), Hackney has a number of attractions including a large selection of animals, a beautiful walled garden and an award-winning cafe. Frizzante serves home-made Italian dishes with an on-site deli. The farm hosts a number of craft activities including pottery, stone sculpture, music & movement and textile printing.

Facilities: Disabled access. Classroom, cafe, toilets. Wet and dry garden feature.

Opening Hours: Tuesday to Sunday, 10am - 4.30pm. Closed Mondays except Spring and Summer Bank Holidays.

Freightliners Farm, Islington

General Information: Freightliners creates a slice of the countryside in a grey corner of Islington. As well as many rare breed animals and an amazing variety of chickens, the farm also has beehives, a food garden, composting and a wide range of green building activities. There's also an animal village where children can stroke and hold the resident creatures and an 'adopt an animal' scheme.

Facilities: Disabled access. Farm shop, education room, garden areas and animal house. Also a baby-changing area and picnic area.

Opening Hours: Freightliners is open Tuesday-Sunday from 10am to 4pm (4.45pm in summer).
