How we work

Unlike many other organisations concerned with the environment, regeneration or community development, FCFCG is member-led and therefore operates in direct response to our members' needs. This is achieved by having a Management Committee who are elected representatives of member groups (see below for the list of our Board members).

Our staff carry out various functions aimed at supporting and representing our members, giving them a voice at national level and providing them with information. All staff provide members of the public with information about city farms and community gardens.

Staff and management structure

Development Workers
To support our members in the field we have several regional offices across the UK staffed by dedicated regional workers who support current members and help to develop farms and gardens in the area. They are aided by Fieldworkers recruited directly from member projects, who act as a further level of support at grass-roots level.

Head Office Staff
The staff team based at the GreenHouse in Bristol consists of a director and deputy director, plus members of staff who deal with fundraising for the Federation itself, services and administration roles, information, publications and finance.
