True Value Research Summary

This is the colourful and interesting summary of a research study by FCFCG, funded by the Northern Rock Foundation into the true value of  city farms and community gardens. The study assessed the impact and value of community farms and gardens to individuals and communities, focussing on opportunities for engagement, volunteering, training, capacity builidng and empowerment. The findings were clear - community farms and gardens provide tangible benefits to people's lives, increasing their well-being, community involvement and pride in their local environment.

The North West Food & Health Task Force, in collaboration with the Federation of City Farms & Community Gardens, has produced a booklet to provide advice to any community group, food project or individual in England and Wales who is planning (or is already involved in) food growing activities in areas where an assessment of potential land or soil contamination may be necessary.
