This
20 minute pedal takes you through part of the East End with its
Bangladeshi community centred around the famous Brick Lane, before
arriving at Spitalfields City Farm, near the edge of the borough border
between Tower Hamlets and Hackney.
Directions (from Stepping Stones):
- Turn Right out of Stepping Stones onto Stepney Way - this is a narrow road for cyclists to share with vehicles so be careful
- Continue to New Road and Turn Right here
- Go Across Whitechapel Road onto Vallance Road, the haunt of the Kray Twins in the 1960s
- Turn Left onto Buxton Street, this is a one-way street, so dismount and walk down it
- Turn Right after the playground to the path between the fences
- Turn Right onto Weaver Street and Spitalfields City Farm.

Stepping Stones City Farm, Tower Hamlets
General Information: A small but lively working farm in Tower Hamlets, Stepping Stones was created from former derelict land and is home to many friendly animals. Visitors can also enjoy seasonal events, wildlife walks and buy delicious home made foods from the farm shop.
Facilities: Disabled access. Toilets, farm shop, cafe, education classroom, picnic garden/play area, souvenir, gift and book shop. Baby-changing area. Coach parking.
Opening Hours: Tuesday to Sunday, 9.30am-5pm in winter or 6pm in summer. The farm may be affected by Crossrail construction so please check the current situation before visiting.

Spitalfields City Farm, Tower Hamlets
General Information: Sited on a former railway good depot near Brick Lane in the East End, Spitalfields has become a community farm with a real multi-ethnic flavour. There is a wildlife area, vegetable garden and many unusual animals. The farm runs a wide range of events and activities throughout the year, from a festive market at Christmas to sheep-shearing demos in the summer.
Facilities: Disabled access. Toilets, shop, indoor and outdoor play areas, classroom and education room. Baby-changing area. Summer sheep-shearing demos.
Opening Hours: From 10.30am to 5pm Tuesday to Sunday. The farm will be affected by the construction of the East London line, so please check with the farm before arriving.
