Registration is closed for this event

This event, led by Cultivate London, will deliver bespoke training for community growers on staff and volunteer development.

This is the first event in our 'Growing a healthy community garden' programme, sponsored by Dobies. We are delighted to be working in partnership with Dobies who, as well as offering discounts on their products for our members, are sponsoring a year’s worth of vital training for members of Social Farms & Gardens.

Where: The Calthorpe Project, Kings Cross http://calthorpeproject.org.uk

When: Friday 25th January 2019, 9.30pm - 4.30pm.

Aims

This day is a chance to focus on supporting your staff and volunteers in their career development, and how your organisation can create new opportunities for those interested in the city farm and community garden sector.

The examples are apprenticeships, but the day is suitable for anyone looking to improve career development opportunities for themselves or others.

Outcomes

  • Gain an overview of different kinds of apprenticeships and the opportunities, costs and admin involved.
  • Gain insight into the ‘journey’ for apprentices, potential apprentices, and managers.
  • Consider the best approach for your organisation. For example, recruiting apprentices, facilitating apprenticeships for current staff, or simply expanding staff development options.
  • Develop ways to approach delivery partners such as colleges and developers, and manage the partnership.
  • Generally, consider how community garden and city farm organisations can work together to develop staff and volunteers.
  • And hear about Cultivate London’s commercial / community business model and The Power of Horticulture to Support and Sustain Communities.
