What: In our second webinar on legal formats, we explore Community Benefit Societies with Mark Simmonds of Co-op Culture, and Alice Brown of Sutton Community Farm. We will be hearing about the process of incorporating as a CBS, fundraising in the CBS format including community share offers, and governance and decision making with community shareholders.
When: Friday 18th February 2022
Time:  12:00 through to 01:00 pm

Community Benefit Societies offer the opportunity for communities to make a tangible investment in their community, providing capital for a community project to get underway. Principly used as a mechanism to raise funds for a community asset whilst ensuring democratic ownership in perpetuity, the CBS model comes with specific legal obligations. However, it also provides great flexibility in terms of income generation. Join us as we hear insights from social entrepraneur and advisor, Mark Simmonds, and Alice Brown, Farm Business Manager at Sutton Community Farm

We also run monthly webinars for SF&G members, which are an opportunity for members to share learn from the experience of others on a huge variety of topics. If you have a skill, experience or interest you'd like to share, please get in touch with: [email protected]

Webinars take place on the third Wednesday of each month, 2.00 - 3.00 pm and recordings are made available for members on our website. Webinars are hosted on Zoom which is free to access.
