What: In our final webinar on legal formats, we discuss charities, their unique suitability for grant-funded organisations, limits to profit-generating activities and ways to maximise income generation within these constraints.
When: Thursday 3rd March 2022
Time:  12:00 through to 01:00 pm

Community Benefit Societies mandate democratic control of community assets; Community Interest Companies provide income generation flexibility within a lean governance structure; but no legal format offers as much potential to raise grant funding as the charity. The strict limitations on profit generating activities provides reassurance to funders, opening your organisation to the broadest range of grants. Christina Wheatley of Edible Rotherhithe will be sharing her reasons for transitioning from a CIC to a charity format, and Simon Ryder of the Floating Classroom will be describing the reporting requirements and will explain how his organisation maximises the value generated from their barge by cirvumventing the restrictions on income generating activities.

We also run monthly webinars for SF&G members, which are an opportunity for members to share learn from the experience of others on a huge variety of topics. If you have a skill, experience or interest you'd like to share, please get in touch with: [email protected]

Webinars take place on the third Wednesday of each month, 2.00 - 3.00 pm and recordings are made available on our website. Webinars are hosted on Zoom which is free to access.
