Urban Circular Bio-economies
Where: Online
When: Thursday 19 September 7pm-8pm
Rokiah Yaman is Co-Founder of MAD LEAP CIC, a non profit organisation dedicated to promoting sustainable ways to manage food waste in the city and use the by-products to grow food for local consumption. MAD LEAP works with sister tech development company LEAP Micro AD, to combine micro anaerobic digestion technology and in-vessel composting with food growing using hydroponics, raised bed as well as mushroom cultivation.
Urban circular bioeconomies
Rokiah will present SOURCE, a circular, net negative carbon approach to managing food waste on-site and using the biofertiliser, bioenergy and compost generated to grow food. The project aims to create an economically sustainable model that can support local green employment and accredited training opportunities beyond an initial funded period. We will share findings so far from our work scaling up this circular approach at an East London primary school.
