Edible Cardiff Spring Festival - What's On? 

To celebrate our Edible Cardiff Spring Festival, we will be sharing events and celebrations that are taking place across the city. We will be adding more events as they are organised, so check back regularly for updates! If you are part of a community group or organisation and want to get involved, register your interest in the Festival and get in touch with any questions.

All events will have strict social distancing measures in place and will be following Welsh Government guidelines and guidance on COVID-19. For more information click here.

April / Ebrill

Who: Edible Cardiff

What: Network Gathering

When: 27th April 2021, 6:00pm - 7:30pm

Details: If you're involved in food growing in Cardiff, whether that's community gardening, small scale food production or on a community allotment, join us for our next network gathering. This is chance to meet others, make connections and share knowledge, skills and ideas. The agenda will be sent closer to the date along with a link to a Zoom meeting.

What: Virtual Grow-along / Tyfu 'ar y cyd' ar lein
When: 28th Apr 2021, 6:30pm - 8:00pm 

Details: Join Green Squirrel for a friendly virtual grow-along and become part of a community of back garden growers across Cardiff and beyond! This time of year can be busy in the garden so why not take a short break to join us and learn some new skills. In this virtual session we’ll be exploring some interesting and unusual approaches to growing, including forest gardening, no dig and hugelkultur.

What: Paint a plant day

What: Plant pot fun

Where: Near the Secret Garden Cafe, Bute Park, Cardiff 

Details: Plant pot fun, upcycling plastic and other kinds of containers into bright and fun planters. Please bring clean plastic containers bottles, milk cartons, old shoes, wellies, etc to decorate and take home planted with some compost and small edible plants.

Details: Edible hanging basket workshops from 1:30pm-2:50pm and a seed plant and swap from 2:30pm-4:30pm. Bring along any spares and take home something different!

What: Plant / seed swap & garden tour

Where: Flaxland Allotment, Sachville Avenue, Cardiff,  CF143NE

Details: As part of Social Farms and Gardens 'Have a Grow Day' Global Gardens are hosting a seed and plant swap from 11am-12pm and a guided garden tour walk between 12pm-1pm. A chance to share your seedlings or gain some pollinator friendly plants. You can also have a look around Global Gardens and learn more about the project.

Details: Learn how to make a simple willow obelisk from natural local sustainable materials. Willow planters ideal for growing peas and beans.

What: Growing Connections Salad Circle Week
When: 8th June 2021, 12:30pm - 2:30pm

Where: Near the Secret Garden Cafe, Bute Park, North Road, Cardiff 

Details: Contribute to inspiring local action on food, growing, community and inclusion for everyone in Cardiff. Led by Alice Taherzadeh, this fun and inclusive workshop will draw on examples from Salad Circle events in Bute Park with Cardiff Salad Garden and The Bottega Project. Help the groups plan how to grow connections from Food for Life Get Togethers and make more positive practical actions in the coming year and beyond.
