Our work in Northern England - Networking and events
Pre Covid-19, we held a range of great events and training in Yorkshire and Humberside - including regular networking events, training opportunities (run in conjunction with our partners at Thrive) and targetted events which were widely attended. We are happy to be resuming regional networking again in the New Year (albeit online) and will be running these types of events again across more regions over the course of 2021.

Yorkshire & Humberside
Yorkshire & Humberside was the first of the nine national regions to come ‘online’ as part of the Growing Care Farming project's regional networking programme. The region was the pilot for different approaches to engage existing and prospective care farmers, health, social care and education professionals and other interested parties in the understanding, promotion and growth of the care farming sector in the region.
The region comprises the administrative areas of North Yorkshire, South Yorkshire, West Yorkshire, East Riding of Yorkshire, Hull, the City of York as well as North Lincolnshire and North East Lincolnshire. Within this area there are 14 separate districts which each have their own health, social care and education teams.
North East
The North East is the second of the regions to come online in January 2021.
Our first GCF North East based event took place in January, with three fantastic and inspirational care farmers talking about their work and how it provides for the varied needs of their service users. A great start to the regional networking with connections made and hopes for farm tours and more exchanging of ideas later in the year.
North West
The first GCF North West themed online event took place on Thursday 25th February 2021. The event was attended by 46 people from a wide variety of backgrounds including existing and prospective care farmers, health, social care and education staff, plus representatives from agriculture and other nature based organisations. Two fantastic and inspirational care farmers presented on their work and how it provides for the varied needs of their different service users and we were also supported by the NHSE Regional Social Prescribing Facilitator Jo Ward. The event has kick started networking in the North West with lots of interesting questions posed and connection made.
