The Farm Project at Abbey Home Farm, Cirencester, Gloucestershire
The Farm Project CIC (Community Interest Company) is looking for an Education Officer to join its small friendly team. The ideal candidate will have a deep knowledge of the natural world, and be enthusiastic, friendly, outgoing and passionate about young people and the countryside. You will also have experience of delivering education and working with children and young people from a diverse range of backgrounds. You must genuinely enjoy the company of children and young people (all day long!), be happy out in the woods whatever the weather and have a high mud tolerance.
The Farm Project offers an unusual experience for children and young people through a short-stay residential on a working organic farm. Whilst here, children and young people gain a deep understanding of where food comes from through hands-on growing, harvesting and cooking. They work with livestock and spend time in the woods building an awareness and appreciation for the natural world. Learning outside the classroom offers invaluable opportunities for personal development, building confidence and self-esteem. The nurturing environment encourages positive relationships to be built between individuals and gives a general sense of wellbeing.
Accommodation is available on the farm - living on site or very locally might be useful due to the irregular hours of the job.
If you are interested in applying or would like to learn more about this post please have a look at the farm project and farmshop websites to learn more about us, and then email: email@example.com with a full CV and letter of interest. Applications will be accepted until we find the right applicant!
Interviews will take place at the end of January and/or the end of February 2018.
