Oxford City Farm creates empowered communities, learning and working together to produce food locally and live healthy, enriched and sustainable lives. Increasing access to seasonal produce and providing communities with opportunities to work together and build skills and knowledge about nutrition, food growing, nature and animal care. The food we grow is shared with volunteers and distributed within our local community, enabling us to get seasonal produce onto the plates of people who might otherwise have limited access to it.
We work with a range of local organisations to deliver engaging land- and kitchen-based activities related to food, farming and the environment. Participants include children, vulnerable adults, and people experiencing mental health challenges. Participants learn growing and cooking skills in our on-site teaching kitchen, but also experience an increased sense of well-being and connectedness, team-working, and life skills.
We work to promote environmental awareness, community cohesion and wellbeing by offering learning and practical opportunities for people to interact with the land, farming and animals. We have turned a derelict site into a vibrant city farm, bringing farming and food production to the heart of urban communities in Oxford.
