Just a short walk from the bustle of Borough Market and Bankside you can discover this inviting urban oasis, a perfect spot for reading your morning paper, having a picnic lunch, or enjoying the peace, flowers, wildlife and green, green grass.

Octavia Hill (co-founder of The National Trust) originally established this delightful garden in 1887 to provide beauty and fresh air for the 'tired inhabitants of Southwark' - the Garden has recently been restored to its Victorian glory with pond, fountain, bridge and meandering paths - and lots of comfortable benches.

One of a number of parks and green spaces managed by the Bankside Open Spaces Trust. Please see their website for details of these and more background information about the Red Cross Garden.
