Growing Roots
Growing Roots is a small project which seeks to give individuals with mental health issues the opportunity to grow their own vegetables, fruit and flowers. This reunites people with old skills, teaches them new ones, usually leads to long discussions about cooking, and hopefully improves general health and well-being.
The project operates on three weekdays, Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays, from late March to mid- October.
By bus - buses from St Albans stop in Hill End Lane and Hatfield Road. Walk to the top of Hixberry Lane and follow the lane when it becomes a no-through road. Keep going until you find a gate to the right onto the track leading to the Community Garden and the New Allotment Site. The project operates on allotment number 73 . If driving, drive down Hixberry Lane and park on the right when the road becomes a no-through road, and follow the above directions.
