Door 84 is a registered charity, based in the Groves area of Guildhall, Ward, york. Established in 1969 as a youth centre, we have built an excellent track record of developing and supporting a range of projects in the local community. In recent years progressing into a Youth & Community Centre and also home to 9 other organisations that run from our premises including a Nursery and SNAPPY. We run 7x Youth Sessions/Projects (8-25years), 2x Community Sparks sessions for adults with disabilities, running 3 large Community Event per year sometimes seeing over 300 attendees and we aspire to start a Community Café within the year. Although not a public space, we do engage widely with children, families and community members from the area and beyond. Having a nursery onsite means we work from birth, meaning all ages are involved. We worked with 308 Young People in 2019/20 and over 50 Community Sparks members. During the pandemic, we have supported through the Community Food Stall Project at its peak supporting 608 individuals in one week! So, we feel very connected within the community. The Groves area, primarily doesn’t have many properties with gardens, many with just yards or in flats so non outdoor area so a project like this would be much welcomed.
