Learn how care farming can benefit people with a Learning Disability or ASD as part of a health, social care or education programme.
On this course you will:
Learn about the challenges faced by those with Learning Disabilities and Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) and how care farming can help meet their needs.
Look at planning your day, activity planning and facilitation for this user group
Learn how to use the farm / site and adapt it for Learning Disabled and Autistic users
Identify skills necessary for successful engagement with people with Learning Disabilities and ASDs.
Understand induction and assessment processes, including outcome measurement.
Explore the current status of Learning Disabilities and Autism provision in the UK and how to carry out a Needs Analysis for your area.
Identify further sources of support and guidance, including information about the Social Farms & Gardens Code of Practice.
The course is held over two weeks with flexible access to all learning materials and staggered live event times to accommodate your commitments to home and work. The course requires 7-10 hours learning time and costs £50. Funding for the Growing Care Farming project has enabled us to offer this course at a subsidised rate.
