Micro dairying – Opportunities for CSA projects

Microdairying is a particularly exciting opportunity, and one that an increasing number of small producers are grasping right across the UK. Many are choosing to become CSAs. This event is an introduction to the technicalities of producing, processing and setting up or running a dairy based CSA project.

We’ve got 2 great speakers lined up for you

  • Sophia Swinhoe Morgan recently established Dairy Dyfi near Machynlleth, where they milk 20 goats and a particularly gorgeous Jersey cows. She will talk about her approach to managing the herd, and in particular on her focus on a grass/waste food diet. She will also give us the benefit of her experience in setting up the processing systems including meeting all the food regulation.
  • Lynne Davisruns Street Goat in Bristol, an urban project that take male kids from dairy herds and raises them for meat. She will be sharing her years of experience in running community food projects in general and a livestock CSA project in particular, including: builing membership; governance structures; getting the best out of core groups and volunteers and much more.
