Nurturing young people with anxiety and depression through care farming (Online)

Learn how care farming can benefit people with depression and anxiety as part of a health, social care or education programme.

On this course you will:

  • Learn how care farming can benefit young people with anxiety and depression, and how these benefits are linked to theories into green care and the evidence to support them
  • Look at planning your day, activity planning and facilitation for this user group
  • Learn how to use the farm / site and adapt it for young people with mental health needs
  • Identify skills necessary for successful engagement to nurture young people with anxiety and depression
  • Understand referral, induction and assessment processes, including outcome measurement.
  • Identify further sources of support and guidance in relation to young people, including information about the Social Farms & Gardens Code of Practice

The course is held over two weeks with flexible access to all learning materials and staggered live event times to accommodate your commitments to home and work. The course requires 7-10 hours learning time and costs £50. Funding for the Growing Care Farming project has enabled us to offer this course at a subsidised rate.
