'Have A Grow Day' 2021
Over 30 gardens took part in the first 'Have A Grow Day' which took place in Wales a few years ago, and it has grown in popularity ever since.
We are so pleased to say that it will be happening this year, providing the opportunity to promote our members to visitors both online and in person (Covid 19 restrictions permitting).
Where: Online all over the UK or at an SF&G member site near you
When: Saturday 5th June 2021
What is ‘Have a Grow Day’?
- A way of promoting and celebrating the work of our members who help transform lives and neighbourhoods all over the UK.
- A chance to raise some money through donations from visitors/virtual visitors and even finding some new volunteers!
- A way to connect with your community and for your community to connect with their local SF&G members.
The idea is to spread the word and promote your local community garden or allotment, school garden, community farm or CSA scheme, and reach out to your local community, whether it be virtually or otherwise.
If you're not able or not quite ready to open your gates again on 5th June, you could set up a virtual tour of your site on your website or facebook page. We will promote this for you on our 'Have a Grow Day' map on our website and through our social media channels. We will also provide some downloadable resources to help you plan for the day.
For some inspiration, take a look at:
- The London City Harvest Festival YouTube Channel' to see some of the tours posted for last year's festival which was happened online.
- The National Garden Society virtual garden visits website
- This local secret gardens trail in Bristol which took place virtually last year
We’d like to get as many Social Farms & Gardens members across the UK as possible to take part in Have A Grow Day 2021. Why not throw open your gates/virtual gates to celebrate your fantastic work?
