Job Opportunity: Trauma-Informed Sessional Facilitator – Gardening Club in Waterloo
Bankside Open Spaces Trust (BOST) is seeking a Trauma-Informed Sessional Facilitator to co-lead a weekly gardening club organised in partnership with Waterloo Community Counselling’s Multi-Ethnic Counselling Service (MECS).
Based at the Barley Mow Centre in SE1, this freelance role supports a creative, participant-led gardening project that promotes wellbeing for individuals who have experienced displacement and trauma.
Here are the details from BOST:
- Location: Barley Mow Centre, Waterloo, SE1
- Contract: Freelance (self-employed)
- Fee: £20.06 per hour
- Hours: Wednesdays, 10.30am–4.30pm (6 hours per session)
- Duration: 6 x 8-week blocks over 18 months
The role involves delivering inclusive, trauma-informed gardening sessions and occasional nature-inspired indoor activities in colder months. You’ll work closely with our Community Engagement Facilitator and Volunteer Coordinator to co-create a safe, welcoming space and contribute to session planning, reflective practice, and storytelling through blogs and social media (with participant consent).
Who We’re Looking For:
We’re looking for someone with experience in community gardening, wellbeing or outdoor facilitation, and a strong understanding of trauma-informed approaches. You should be confident working with small groups and committed to equity, diversity and inclusion.
