Association Assistant Location: Rice Lane City Farm, Liverpool Salary: By negotiation dependant on appropriate experience and qualifications. Contract: Initially this will be a part-time, pensionable post for a probationary period of six months. The hours and days to be agreed with the Board of Trustees and the Farm Manager.
Rice Lane City Farm is part of Rice Lane Community Association, a charity, which is funded entirely by donations and grants from charitable trusts. The person appointed to this post will assist the Farm Manager, Maria Hornsby MBE, who has been with the project for 40 years and through her dedication kept the Farm going during both good and difficult times, and the last year during COVID restrictions has been particularly challenging. The Farm Manager will continue as an advisor on Farm and animal welfare matter Matters.
Rice Lane City Farm is a community project and has been open for 40 years. This year will be 40th Anniversary of the first farm animals arriving. It provides a number of services relating to health, welfare and wellbeing. The project has farm animals: a cow, a donkey, goats, sheep, piglets, chickens and ducks. There is a small part time staff team working on rota to provide 7 day a week coverage to look after the farm live stock and to ensure the farm site of 24acres is open and safe everyday between 10am and 3.30pm. The Farm is on a 24 acre Cemetery, and RLCA with the considerable help of local residents rebuilt the burnt out and derelict Lodge Buildings, as well as the former Mortuary
The person appointed should have experience in at least one of these areas;
Fund raising in the voluntary/charitable sector
Helping to manage staff, volunteers, funding and physical resources
Liaising with outside bodies e.g. Charity Commission, City Council etc.
Preparing annual Reports and monitoring reports
Providing support for the Board of Trustees.
