Location: FarmAbility, Blenheim Estate in Oxfordshire (near Oxford) and other Oxfordshire-based farms, estates and green spaces.

Contract: Permanent. For 30-37.5 hours per week or 4–5 days per week (tba)

Salary: £35-40,000 (FTE) dependent on experience.

FarmAbility, Oxford is looking for a new Director to lead and develop opportunities for its day service for people with learning disabilities and autism (our co-farmers). We believe in a society where people with learning disabilities and autism are independent, active and connected members of society where they have a meaningful occupation, and where their contribution is recognised and valued.

To help build this society, we run farm-based programmes where our co-farmers can engage in purposeful, outdoor activities that improve physical health and well-being, foster a sense of community and allow the development and strengthening of skills and abilities. We have seen that this can change people’s lives.

We benefit from the rich landscapes that our partner farms, estates and owners of green spaces generously provide us with. In turn, our co-farmers make a valued contribution to the seasonal cycle of farming and horticulture. FarmAbility works with occupational therapists and other specialists to create innovative programmes that allow each of our co-farmers to choose their own development path. Our focus is on the individual and on enabling rather than supporting.
The Director would give the strategic leadership that has helped us to achieve strong outcomes for our co-farmers’ well-being and skills development, while ensuring the programme is flexible, responsive and financially viable. They will help us to innovate and develop the programme and nurture effective partnerships to create more opportunities for new co-farmers to benefit from rural-based programmes.
