Freelance Community Gardeners
Location: Urban Roots, Glasgow
Rate of pay: Between £15 and £25 per hour depending on the assignment.

Urban Roots is looking to increase its pool of freelance workers for our community gardening projects across the Southside. We need reliable people who are skilled and knowledgeable gardeners, with experience of supporting volunteers, working with children or working with community groups to join our busy team. Hours may be ad hoc to cover leave or sickness or for specific projects that may be short to medium term. This could range from working a few hours at a one-off event or up to 3 days a week over several months.

You may be responsible for:

  • Engaging with and supporting groups and volunteers, some of whom have additional support needs.
  • Leading volunteer gardening sessions
  • Leading workshops on growing
  • Delivering gardening sessions in schools and nurseries.

A horticulture qualification or similar may be useful but is not considered essential. Please note that all Urban Roots projects operate under organic principles and methods.

Urban Roots freelance workers will be paid between £15 and £25 per hour depending on the assignment, including time for preparation, planning and evaluation. The nature of our work means that we ask for a PVG check, two references and proof of identity. You will be expected to make your own arrangements for insurance and paying tax and NI contributions.
