Location: Lambourne End Centre, Essex
Salary: £18,000 pro rata
Hours: Up to 35 hours a week, Monday – Friday, but fewer hours would be an option
Contract: Temporary to cover long-term sick leave, initially until 31st March 2020
The Lambourne End Centre is a fantastic 54 acre site in south west Essex which is full of opportunity. The Centre’s scenic location in a rural setting, yet on the doorstep of East London’s urban fringe creates a unique resource. The Centre boasts residential accommodation and training facilities, outdoor adventure activities, a garden project and a working farm with dedicated environmental areas. These are used to generate a wide range of programmes which promote and deliver personal development opportunities for young people, especially those at risk or struggling in traditional mainstream environments. All the programmes are designed to encourage team building, problem solving and communication skills, as well as build confidence and raise aspirations.
We are looking for a temporary Garden Instructor to cover long-term sick leave, initially until 31st March 2020, to provide technical supervision to a variety of disadvantaged people who are participating in gardening to improve their health and wellbeing.
We are looking for someone with gardening expertise who has experience of supporting people with disabilities or those who suffer from poor mental health. Ideally they would need would be able to start ASAP to help the Centre fulfil its commitments to existing participants whilst an existing member of staff is on sick leave. The post would ideally be for 5 days a week, but even 2 or 3 days a week would be a great help.
Suitable candidates should have:
- A commitment towards helping people, who have a disability or suffer from poor mental health to improve their health and wellbeing through gardening
- Relevant experience or qualifications in gardening
Due to the nature of the work, the post will be subject to an enhanced DBS check.
