Young Farmers Volunteer
Location: Surrey Docks Farm, London SE16
Contract: Volunteer
Hours: Part- time. Volunteers would need to commit to attending regularly on Sundays for mornings (9:30am-1pm), afternoons (2pm-5pm) or full days (9:30am-5pm)

Surrey Docks Farm is a community farm in the heart of London. We provide our visitors with unique opportunities to learn about farming, food production, wildlife and horticulture by becoming actively involved.
We run a range of informal education activities for children and young people at the Farm. Have a look at our dedicated youth clubs Twitter account to see what we get up to:

Volunteers working with these projects assist the education team preparing activities, supporting the young people, getting hands on and creating fun, interesting and educational sessions. Experience with animals, gardening and crafts is useful, but FAR more important is a person who is enthusiastic, patient and supportive to our young people.
In return we will give you valuable experience working with young people. These are ideal roles for those wanting to work in environmental education, youth work and/or to go into teaching.

We currently have vacancies to volunteer with our Young Farmers Club. Young Farmers is a free weekly club for local children to get involved with all aspects of a working farm. Club members (aged 8-14) help with mucking out and caring for animals, maintain their own vegetable plot, learn about conservation as well as cooking and craft activities. The Club meets every Sunday throughout the year with two groups coming from 10am-12:30pm and 2pm-4:30pm. Volunteers would need to commit to attending regularly on Sundays for mornings (9:30am-1pm), afternoons (2pm-5pm) or full days (9:30am-5pm)

To apply: If you're interested in volunteering, full details are on our website: and you can get in touch by completing our volunteer enquiry form:
One of our team will then arrange an informal induction and tour of the Farm so you can find out more!
