Social Farms & Gardens are pleased to announce the date for our 40th Anniversary Awards ceremony. When Covid-19 restrictions hit the UK in March 2020 we put our awards, sponsored by McClarrons, on hold. We'd received around 200 entries across seven categories and it was wonderful to hear about all the amazing individuals, organisations and activities connecting people and nature throughout the UK. But it wasn’t the right moment for a celebration.
Whilst many of our members are currently closed, and all have undergone significant changes in the past 12 months, we felt the time was now right to recognise those organisations and individuals transforming lives before ours all got turned a bit upside down. We’ve also added an additional category to recognise a Covid-19 Response Hero.
We are excited that Pam Warhurst CBE will be our keynote speaker for the evening. Pam has been an activist and advisor for over 40 years and co-founded Incredible Edible Todmorden, a local food partnership that encourages community engagement through local growing. Incredible Edible started small, with the planting of a few community herb gardens in Todmorden, and today has spin-offs in the U.S. and Japan, counting over 150 groups in the UK and 1000 world-wide.
We are grateful to our headline sponsors, McClarrons, for supporting the event and Royal Agriculture University for their sponsorship of the two School Farm Network awards.
Our team of judges are assessing the nominations across all eight categories and we are looking forward to revealing the winners on 25th March.
