The wildlife project supports nine community allotments in Bolton, two community gardens in Wigan and one in Salford. The project has introduced a weekly green waste kerbside collection service for Halliwell. These are collected on two decorated milk floats! The waste is taken to the Shepherd Cross Street Allotments, composted and the compost used to grow organic vegetables. The vegetables are shared free of charge amongst everyone who has helped on the project. Produce includes most annual vegetables, fruit trees, soft fruit, herbs, native and local wild fruits.
