RecoveryAyr was established in South Ayrshire in 2012 as a grassroots recovery group which aimed to offer a range of activities, volunteering and training opportunities to support individuals in recovery from alcohol or drug misuse, their families and the local community.
In 2014 we were delighted to receive SCIO Charity status. We currently have over 40 volunteers and more than 150 members! In 2017 we recruited our first part time peer workers to support our activities and hope to offer more employment opportunities soon!
For over 6 years we have been running Cafe Hope, which offers a safe alcohol and drug free community space for individuals, families and the local community. A peer recovery groups meet online daily, and we run Face-to-face groups weekly.
We also support a range of peer led groups and training opportunities for individuals in recovery and their family members. These include running an allotment, using the produce to support a cooking group, supporting other community gardens, walking group, one-off projects like building raised beds for a school garden.
Our Trustees are currently working on an exciting business plan and securing funding to allow us to expand our activities!
