This project aims to transform a large, little-used grass verge on Mount Pleasant Hill in Clapton into a vibrant, community-led wildflower and wildlife haven. Local residents, with permission from the landowner and in partnership with Hackney charity Eco-Active, plan to plant UK-native, non-toxic, non-invasive wildflowers, grasses, shrubs and herbs, while retaining open lawn areas. The rewilded space is intended to support pollinators and birds, improve local biodiversity, and enhance wellbeing by creating a more beautiful, nature-rich environment. Funds will pay for plants, soil preparation materials, and basic tools, with all labour done by volunteers and any excess donations passed on to Eco-Active to support further community green projects.
