Shape your local Food Growing Strategy
Community growing groups in Scotland have a great opportunity to get involved in their local authority’s plans for community food growing in the future. The Community Empowerment (Scotland) Act creates a new duty for local authorities to produce a Food Growing Strategy, which must include information on how the local authority intends to increase provision of allotments and other community growing sites in their local authority area.
The Scottish Government is currently asking for people’s views on what guidance should be given to local authorities when making their food growing strategy. The Federation of City Farms and Community Gardens in Scotland are keen to ensure that this guidance means local authorities actively consult and work with community growing groups in their area.
The deadline to submit your views is 17th November 2017. You can download a response form from the Scottish Government website. Please read the draft response from FCFCG below, and view the presentation document (also below) for information on the background to the consultation. We encourage all community growing groups to send in a response to the consultation. Please feel free to use parts of our response, or email us if you would like to have your views included in our response.
