National conference 2008: Bringing together Federation members, policy-makers and representatives of organisations related to community gardening and farming in Scotland, this popular annual event (organised in association with Trellis and ARI) was held at the Scottish Natural Heritage Offices at Battleby, near Perth on October 2, 2008.

Campaign launched: NFU (National Farmers' Union) Scotland has launched a campaign called What's on your Plate? The campaign aims to promote Scottish food and farming and to raise consumer awareness of the importance of local food and farming. We want the public to think about the implications of their food and drink choices.
The campaign is about more than just promoting high quality food; it is about asking the public to support high animal welfare and environmental production standards, help reduce food miles and safeguard local communities and family businesses. The campaign is a great way of teaching adults and children alike about the issues surrounding the food that they eat.

Funding
Growing Communities in Scotland Travel Bursaries: The Growing Communities partnership is launching its Sites Visits Travel Bursary funded by the Big Lottery. This will be open to anyone actively engaged in community or therapeutic gardens or city farms that wishes to go and visit other such groups to share ideas and good practice.
This bursary scheme is not for allotments. The Allotments Regeneration Initiative runs a bursary scheme for allotments groups to visit other allotments sites. For more information on this, please go to www.farmgarden.org/ari
You will be able to apply for up to £300 in total for travel and associated expenses for up to 6 people. Bursaries will be awarded to applicants that can demonstrate that the proposed visit will inform and assist their own community garden, therapeutic garden or city farm.
FCFCG and Trellis will be able to help you identify other community gardens, therapeutic gardens and city farms across Scotland to visit. Application success will depend on your application and available funding. We will award 10 bursaries each year.
For more information please contact Vicki Ferguson using the contact details at the bottom of this page or download a form using the link below:
