With a slight change to the original programme, we will focus on the process of identifying apple varieties. Our guest speaker will be Ian Sturrock - who has revived many heritage Welsh varieties including the Bardsey Island apple (afal Ynys Enlli). Ian will share his tips for keeping track of your apple varieties by creating maps and proper labelling, what features to look for when identifying named varieties and how he has revived Welsh heritage varieties of apple, pear, plum, cherry and even fig! Feel free to bring an apple along so you can look at the features we talk about but be aware that we're unlikely to be able to i.d. your apple online!
