Come and learn how to plant a fruit tree in such a way that it has the best chance of a healthy and productive life.
We will discuss mulches, site selection, root growth, additions such as compost and root dips, staking, pruning, and rootstock choice.
Then we'll plant the first trees of the orchard!
After a lunch of hot soup made with Wern Farm produce (please bring your own sandwiches as well), we will have a tour of the site and a chat about plans for the Forest Garden orchard. Please do bring along any planting spades you might want to use, a notebook and some questions.
