Visit to Einion’s Garden, Furnace
The effects of climate change are being seen by horticulturalists, farmers and community gardeners across the globe. During Summer 2026 many community gardens in Wales struggled to keep crops alive, experiencing extreme and sustained high temperatures, very little rainwater, a decline in beneficial insects, lower volumes of food than previous years - and local wildfires. And we expect to see further weather extremes as we move into the winter months.
Join Ann and John Owen at Einion’s Garden to learn methods to help us adapt to climate change in our community gardens in Ceredigion, and build local food resilience in our communities, as global food prices rise. Come ready to learn and share your ideas and experiences.
This gathering is aimed at Ceredigion based community garden projects.
Booking essential. Register by Monday 12th October 2026 (at the bottom of this page).
WHAT TO BRING:
Lunch: bring your own lunch. Hot and cold drinks provided.
Suitable clothing: waterproof coat and sturdy shoes.
About Einions Garden
John and Ann have been growing veg for the local market since 2010 after becoming increasingly worried about the collision of the effects of climate change, peak resources and economic downturns. Our food system is incredibly fragile and highly dependent on imported fresh produce. Increasing local production of food not only lowers emissions, it creates jobs and starts re-building a thriving local food economy. Einion's Garden was started on a shoestring budget, using permaculture thinking and methods to tackle some of the many challenges on the boggy, north facing plot. Over the years, we've adapted to growing with increasingly chaotic weather patterns by changing methods, incorporating redundancy, irrigation and covers. It remains an ongoing experiment!
Places are limited so book early to avoid disappointment.
