A day of inspiration for community growers in Northern Ireland

Registration is closed for this event

Are you looking to work with new partners such as businesses, housing associations or schools but not sure how to get started?

This day of inspiration consists of two parts: a guided site tour of Kilcreggan Farm to find out more about how their enterpreneurial approach is helping to ensure the future financial sustainability of the farm; followed by a practical "Pitch Perfect" workshop designed to:

  • Boost your confidence around your core offer to external organisations
  • Provide a simple template for structuring your marketing pitch
  • Share ideas and tips on who to approach in your local area…and how

Where: Kilcreggan Urban Farm, Carrickfergus

When: Wednesday 25 May 2016, 10.00 - 16.00 (part day options available, see below for full details)

Kilcreggan Urban Farm site tour (10.00 - 12.30)
Damian Cassidy, Manager, will be leading a guided tour of the site for community growing groups. It will be an opportunity to see the farm, meet the animals and find out about how Kilcreggan are being enterprising to ensure their financial sustainability for the future.

We are also lucky that Kilcreggan's brand new coffee shop will be open for our visit, and we will be among their first customers. The purpose of the shop is compliment the farm and garden centre, but to also develop work training and jobs for clients.

Networking lunch (12.30 - 13.30)
Build up contacts in the community growing sector while you eat!

Pitch Perfect Workshop (13.30 - 16.00)
Open to all community growing groups who have (an idea of) a product/service they wish to provide to a third party, and who need to build their confidence around marketing this.

Please note: The fee you select to pay on the booking form depends upon which elements of the day you will be attending. The tour and workshop are distinct events, but it would be very beneficial to attend both. Kilcreggan is working successfully with businesses and other corporate agencies including the NHS and they will be able to share some invaluable insights into approaching these organisations from their experience.
