We have teamed up with the Woodshop of Recycled Delights to offer this fantastic opportunity to learn from skilled carpenters in an accessible community garden space. Take time to think about the accessibility of your site, learn how to build an accessible raised bed and gain useful skills to take back to your project.
During this workshop you will:
- Consider how the design of your site and what’s in it can support people to access your project
- Experience a great example of a well-run woodworking workshop
- Learn basic carpentry including sourcing wood, Health & Safety and tool use
- Enjoy building an accessible raised bed from recycled timber
Harry Badger/ Morgan is a self taught reclaimed timber carpenter and teacher, who has delivered hundreds of sessions at garden spaces across Hackney and North/ East London over recent years. Driven by a passion for community spaces and the creative re-use of waste materials, they are also the Lead coordinator of Woodshop of Recycled Delights CIC.
Other WoRD Facilitators include both L2 qualified and self-taught carpenters/ facilitators, who share a common interest in skill sharing, teaching, and sharing the joys and potential of woodworking. WoRD believes in the importance of tackling systemic inequalities in the woodworking world, and over 50% of WoRD trainers are female/ non binary.
