Community Supported Agriculture CSA Cluster Group – Winter 2021 meet up

You are invited to join us up in North Wales for the Winter CSA Cluster Group Meet up. It will be held over two days – Tuesday 2nd November and Wednesday 3rd November. The visits will focus on CSA practices and a chance to gather, network and share best practice. Staff members from Social Farms and Gardens Cymru will also be on hand, and there will be an opportunity to join a Community Land Advisory Service (CLAS) workshop.

Unfortunately, we are unable to provide accommodation as part of the Winter meet-up but can provide details of a variety of beautiful places to stay around the area. Please mail [email protected] for further information.

12pm Tuesday 2nd November 2021

Meet at Henbant Permaculture Farm, Clynnog Fawr near Caernarfon. Lunch will be provided on arrival and a tour of the site will start at 1pm. We will have a chance to hear all about Henbant’s journey and farming practices, there will be an opportunity to ask plenty of questions and network with other CSA’s.

Henbant use Permaculture, Holistic Management and Agro-Ecological methods to grow veg, meat, eggs and milk, but on a small and regenerative human scale that provides food and fuel for their home, visitors and the local community.

9:30am Wednesday 3rd November 2021

We will meet at Trigonos in the Dyffryn Nantlle for a tour of the centre and get some background to the 25-year journey, their new partnership with Ruskin Mill Trust and look at the biodynamic farming practices implemented here.

Trigonos is an 18-acre estate, nestled in the quiet Dyffryn Nantlle Valley in Snowdonia. The estate includes meadowland, small woodlands, a stream running down to the lake, a field for growing vegetables, salads and fruits for their kitchen and beautiful peaceful spaces to enjoy and retreat.

1pm - Wednesday 3rd November 2021

For anyone interested in orchard production processes, we move to Pant Du Vineyard and Orchard, just down the road from Trigonos, for lunch (provided). This is followed by the launch of Social Farms and Gardens new work programme which includes Productive Orchards

Pant Du will take us on a tour - we will hear how they have gone from planting to product and see their processing systems. Following this, we will meet for a short presentation on Productive Community Orchards and a Community Land Advisory Service (CLAS) workshop (as on Day One).

Pant Du Vineyard is a commercial operation who began started their journey in 2007 and located on the beautiful slopes of the Nantlle Valley, Snowdonia.  Pant Du is a family run Vineyard and Orchard producing wine, cider, apple juice, spring water and honey with 18 acres of planted apple trees.

For anyone interested in attending the Orchards session on the 3rd November, you can sign up to the event seperately here.

Places are limited so book early to avoid disappointment

Resilient Green Spaces is a £1.27m partnership project being led by Social Farms & Gardens to pilot alternative re-localised food systems using communities and their green spaces as the driving force for change across Wales until June 2023. The project has received funding through the Welsh Government Rural Communities – Rural Development Programme 2014-2020, which is funded by the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development and the Welsh Government.
