The Volunteer Journey
How do your volunteers experience your project from first discovering you, to moving on (or staying involved). This training is for people running community gardens and city farms to reflect on the volunteers point of view and how the volunteering experience can be made even better.
Where: Chelsea Physic Garden, with Sunnyside Community Gardens.
When: Wednesday 2nd November 9.30am - 4.45pm
Cost: £20 per organisation, including lunch. We would never exclude on the basis of cost. Please email London@FarmGarden if the cost is a barrier.
We will look at:
Attracting, Recruiting, Inducting.
- How volunteers find you.
- How people are attracted to volunteer.
- How volunteers are put off.
- Great approaches to policy, procedures and paperwork.
- How to run an inclusive session for volunteers.
Retaining and Training.
- Volunteer opportunities right for the volunteer’s skills level.
- Retaining volunteers through celebrations and skills development.
- Using listening skills and open ended questions to help remedy conflict between volunteers.
Reframing.
- Moving volunteers on to volunteering opportunities elsewhere.
- Moving volunteers into paid work. When should you actually be paying them?
Places are limited so book early to avoid disappointment.
