Bespoke Insurance for SF&G Members

McClarrons and SF&G Insurance

Back in 2018, Social Farms & Gardens went through a process to find a suitable partner that could support our 2,500 members with their specific insurance needs – a provider that was approachable, understanding and thorough. Through this process, we met Jonathan Copley, Head of Care & Social Welfare at McClarrons, and have been working with him and the team since 2019. As we approach the end of 2025, SF&G’s membership has grown to over 3,500, and McClarrons currently looks after the insurance needs of over 200 organisations running community green spaces, city farms and care farms in the UK.

McClarrons' new insurance offering for SF&G members, backed by charity specialist insurer Ansvar, is now available – find out more here. As the scheme provider for SF&G members, Ansvar Insurance brings decades of experience and understanding of the unique risks faced by charities, community organisations, and social enterprises. Their ethical approach means that every penny of available profit goes to good causes through their parent company, the Benefact Group, and they score highly on the Ethical Consumer rating.

SF&G members can access the following four core packages, along with the option to have a bespoke policy tailored to your specific activities:

  • Community Garden
  • Care Farm
  • Urban Care Farm/City Farm
  • School Farm

Ansvar also offer an interest-free instalment plan, allowing you to spread the cost of your premium over the year at no additional charge. To learn more about how policies work and important considerations for your organisation, head to the ‘Insurance resources for members’ section on our dedicated webpage for McClarrons here
