An Evening in the Garden - a Community Gardens Showcase

We partnered with the London City Farms and Community Gardens Association (London Association) to host a community gardens showcase event on Thursday 25 September.

Social Farms and Gardens members from 20 London community gardens were joined by partners and potential partners from 30 cultural organisations, local government, funding bodies, charities and businesses.

Katie and Afsaneh kicked off the sunny afternoon with a walking tour of Hammersmith Community Gardening Association (HCGA) garden projects from the beautiful Phoenix Farm, through Godolphin Community Garden, Bridget Joyce Square rain gardens, and around Hammersmith Academy. The tour concluded at the gorgeous Ravenscourt Glasshouses ready for the evening to begin.

We heard from London Association trustees Cathy from HCGA and Nemone from Core Landscapes about the incredible work that community gardens do and the need for funding and support to match this!

Community garden leaders had the opportunity to speak about the important work they do with their communities, connect with new people and build relationships.

We also enjoyed a delicious spread including homemade cakes, scones and HCGA’s own apple juice.

It was fantastic to see people enjoying themselves, celebrating their work and making connections and we are excited to see where these partnerships lead...

Thank you to the HCGA team for hosting, everyone who came and contributed, and to City Bridge Foundation for making the event possible.
