Staff, volunteers and trustees of community gardens from across London came together at Castlehaven Community Hub on a gorgeous sunny day last week, for this year’s London Community Gardeners Summer Social.
It was a great chance to connect, unwind and celebrate the work going on at some wonderful spaces. We loved meeting with some familiar faces and some newer members of the network!
Attendees enjoyed drinks and snacks, and cooled off outside in the newly replanted garden, with Pimm's and cordial going down particularly well in the hot weather.
Lots of people joined in with the quiz, and even if a couple of the questions were a little tricky, everyone enjoyed puzzling over the identification of different plants and insects.
Cathy from Castlehaven led a great tour of the growing sites including the horticulture hub and the bountiful raised vegetable beds in the community hub garden.
Some of us even tasted a few mulberries from the tree in the open space, and one lucky person went home with a freshly harvested bag of veg for their tea.
Thanks to everyone who came along and made it a relaxed and uplifting event.
