Welsh Words in the Garden

Welsh Words in the Garden

We're working with Champion community growing groups across Cymru to welcome new people into these special local spaces. Community gardens are a place for making connections and learning new skills through doing. We may expect to learn gardening, DIY or cooking skills and to be able to identify new bugs, birds and plants - but we can learn cultural skills too. Produced as part of an event at John Burns Foundation in Kidwelly, we're sharing this useful list of English and Cymraeg words relating to community garden activity that we can all use.

This list includes some of our favourite words - pili pala (butterfly), dwylo (hands), compostio (compost) and, wrth gwrs, coffi!

Check out the full list below, and download it to use in your setting.

This work is funded by National Lottery Community Fund Sustainable Steps programme.
