We're getting ready ...

We're getting ready for the feast of St Teilo, Patron Saint of Fruit Trees, on February 9th - are you?

As part of our Community Orchards work in Powys, Wales, we've been gathering tales of St Teilo, a 6th-century monk and bishop and friend (or cousin, depending on who you read) of St David, and probably King Arthur.  Big in Brittany between around 549 and 554 AD, he is said to have "planted a large grove for a fruit-bearing orchard, more or less three miles in length" with St Sansom "from Dol to Cai".

It's becoming a bit of a tradition to celebrate St Teilo (born in Penally, near Tenby and founder of a community in Llandeilo Fawr) in Wales and we've collected some resources we hope you find useful.  Let's make a St Teilo's fuss!

**Are there other figures to be celebrating when it comes to Orchards?  Do they have a special day?  Do let us know on admin[at]farmgarden.org.uk or on our Facebook page.  We'd love to hear from you!
